Mr. Marashi and Mr. Nourbakhsh mentioned that the indictment against Mr. Abdullah Nouri in the Special Clerical Court is harsh, and they sought assistance to help him.

Mr. Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of Hezbollah, along with some other leaders of Hezbollah Lebanon, came to visit. They gave a report on the new situation in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Israel. They are satisfied with [Emile Lahoud], the President of Lebanon, who is standing strong in the face of American threats and is unwilling to let the resistance be weakened. Using a map, they showed the areas of dispute between Syria and Israel, particularly around the Sea of Galilee and the east and west banks of the Banias River. Israel considers the borders established during the British Mandate to be valid, while Syria wants the borders it achieved through territorial gains. They pointed out the sensitive northern areas of Israel that are within the range of Katyusha rockets.

Mr. [Ahmad] Mohasel Yazdi came and requested that I run as a candidate in the [Sixth Parliamentary] elections. He also asked for help regarding the owner of the Spiral factory, [a steel pipe manufacturer], who has been fined 300 million tomans in the government’s [Organization for Governmental Discretionary Punishments] court.

Mr. [Abdolmajid] Mo'adi Khah, [Head of the Foundation for the History of the Islamic Revolution], came to bid farewell before his Umrah pilgrimage. He mentioned that the excessive costs for the 100th birthday ceremony of Imam Khomeini have left a negative impression on the public. He also stated that one of the individuals arrested in connection with the recent chain murders was his interrogator and is not a good person.

Mr. [Ahmad] Pishbin, a representative from Baft [in Kerman], visited. He strongly urged me to participate in the [Sixth Parliamentary] elections. He expressed deep dissatisfaction with the government’s actions and the leftists. He asked for assistance for the mosques in Arzuiyeh and Baft and invited me to attend a martyrdom ceremony in Ravar. He mentioned that the village has a high number of martyrs, ranking third in the country in this regard.

Mr. [Mohammad Baqer] Nobakht, a representative from Rasht, expressed concern over the negative impact of the Expediency Discernment Council’s oversight on Parliament, particularly regarding the implementation of general policies. He mentioned that the Council’s observers act based on the Supreme Leader's directives, but the solution lies with the representatives themselves.

Mr. [Hosein] Marashi, [representative of Kerman], and Mr. [Mohsen] Nourbakhsh, [Governor of the Central Bank], called and informed me that the indictment against Mr. Abdullah Nouri, [Director of Khordad Newspaper in the Special Clerical Court], has been issued and is quite severe. They sought assistance to save him. Mr. Nourbakhsh also mentioned that Mr. Khatami, [President], is opposed to Mr. Mohajerani’s resignation, [Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance].

In the evening, Fatemeh, my niece, visited. Her daughter has won the opportunity to be sent to UNESCO, but they are facing difficulties obtaining permission from the Minister of Education.

In India, the ruling coalition of more than 20 parties has once again won the elections, and [Atal Bihari Vajpayee], the current resigned Prime Minister, has been tasked with forming a cabinet. It is scheduled to be introduced on Wednesday, October 13, but some coalition members have suggested postponing the introduction because they believe the number 13 is unlucky, and this will be India's 13th cabinet.

In France, it has been announced that Mr. [Seyyed Mohammad] Khatami, [President of Iran], has agreed that his official state visit will not include a formal dinner, which has been interpreted as a retreat.
