Full Entry of the Day:

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the Commander of the NAJA (Law Enforcement Force), visited and presented a brief overview of the challenges and issues facing the force, along with the reforms he has implemented. He highlighted the establishment of the 110 Police Emergency Center, aimed at creating a centralized command structure for police stations that previously operated as isolated units. Qalibaf explained that with the assistance of academic specialists, the operations have been computerized, and he provided insights into the mechanization of tasks. He is described as an energetic, hardworking, and innovative commander. He suggested that proposals for controlling narcotics be included in the review of the drug trafficking law being discussed at the Expediency Discernment Council.

Siraj al-Din Kazerooni, the former Minister of Housing and Urban Development, came to provide a report on developmental projects around the holy sites in Mashhad and Qom. Following my suggestion for each cabinet minister to document their performance, he indicated that he had compiled his work and was tasked with gathering the writings of others. He also proposed establishing a research institute within the Strategic Research Center to oversee the implementation of the general policies approved by the Council.

I was a guest at the Supreme Leader's iftar. He recounted his meeting with the leaders of the Second of Khordad faction, expressing dissatisfaction with the six-month performance of the Parliament, as it fails to address the people's problems. He mentioned having voiced objections to President Mohammad Khatami regarding his statements about the Constitution. Khatami clarified that his comments were not aimed at the Constitution itself but rather related to the Parliament's law concerning presidential powers and promised to explain further. The Ministry of Science had prepared a statute for the new ministry conditions to be sent to Parliament, which included many of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution's powers. The Leader opposed this and instructed revisions. We also engaged in some discussions about the Quran.

The Florida Supreme Court has ruled in favor of George W. Bush, the Republican candidate, but Al Gore, the Democratic candidate, has requested a review.
