In Palestine Square, there was a demonstration in support of the Palestinians. The clashes in Palestine continue. Yesterday’s negotiations between [Ehud] Barak [the Prime Minister of Israel] and [Yasser] Arafat [the President of the Palestinian Authority], mediated by [Jacques] Chirac [the President of France], Kofi Annan [the Secretary-General of the United Nations], and [Madeleine] Albright [the U.S. Secretary of State], reached no conclusion. Barak, who was supposed to go to Sharm El-Sheikh, refrained from traveling to Egypt for another meeting that included [Hosni] Mubarak [the President of Egypt] and returned to Israel. Muslim protests in Islamic countries are increasing, and in New York, there have also been clashes between Muslims and Jews.

In the Majlis, discussions are underway regarding the impeachment of [Mr. Mohammad Farhadi], the Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education. In Yugoslavia, following disputes over election results and a ruling from the Constitutional Court to annul the elections, a widespread uprising has erupted, with people taking over the parliament and several radio and television stations, leading to clashes with the police and a looming threat to [Slobodan] Milosevic [the President]. I spent part of my time studying research on the causes of immigration.
