I went to Hosseiniyeh Al-Zahra (S) in the Imam Khomeini Complex for a speech at the meeting of Friday prayer leaders. Due to traffic, I arrived fifteen minutes late. The Friday prayer leaders welcomed me warmly, with many slogans, which is quite rare in such gatherings of scholars, but they expressed their emotions due to the current circumstances. In their welcoming remarks, Mr. [Seyyed Reza] Taqvi, [President of the Council of Policy-Making for Friday Prayer Leaders], and [Mohammad Reza] Salehian praised my past services, including the interpretations of Imam and the Leader and the Friday sermons. They especially highlighted the need for a transformation in the interpretation of the Quran and the understanding of it, requesting that I present them with a gift of a comprehensive commentary on the Quran. I agreed and asked them to bring it from Qom. I delivered a detailed speech on the importance of the Friday pulpit as the most natural platform for expressing the opinions of the Islamic government and the serious need to address current political, economic, and security issues, focusing on the meeting's views and the imperialist policies aimed at portraying Islam as ineffective for governing society and preventing Iran's true independence. [Mr. Ahmad Mohseni] Gerkani, the Friday prayer leader of Arak, requested that I visit Arak.In the morning, my brother Mohammad [Chairman of the Central Council of the Kargozaran Sazandegi Party] came to inform me that Mr. [Mohsen] Nourbakhsh, [Mohammad Ali] Najafi, [Hedayatollah] Aqaee, and [Reza] Malekzadeh had resigned from the Kargozaran party. In the afternoon, Mr. [Seyyed Mahmoud] Alizadeh Tabatabai, a lawyer and member of the Tehran City Council, visited. He reported on the prevalence of corruption in the judiciary and the ignorance of Mr. [Hashemi] Shahroudi, the head of the judiciary, about the country's conditions and management. He suggested gradually legalizing opium use, arguing that the current anti-drug efforts had not yielded significant results, and the focus should shift to fighting heroin, which is gradually on the rise. He also proposed establishing connections with the Taliban to prevent poppy cultivation. In the newspapers, discussions surrounding the no-confidence vote in [Mr. Nasrollah Jahangard], the proposed minister by the president, and the divisions within the second Khordad Front have broadened, leading to embarrassment for both the government and the Majlis. The Intifada in Palestine continues, and the protests in the Islamic world are gradually escalating, especially in Iran, Lebanon, and Syria.
