در توضیح بخشی از خاطرات ۱۶ مرداد اکبر هاشمی رفسنجانی در خصوص نامگذاری دانشگاه کرمان و جفا در حق مرحوم علیرضا افضلی پور

Mr. Alireza Afzalipour, born in Tafarsh in 1899 and died in 1993, was a great chemist and philanthropist, who together with his wife, Mrs. Fakhera Saba, are known as the founders of Kerman University.

The late Afzalipour went to France to study in 1931 after passing the exam to send students abroad and returned to Iran after graduating in the field of chemistry.

He retired from government service and worked in the electronic equipment business.

Afzalipour decided to spend his wealth to establish a university in Kerman, and for this purpose, he allocated 500 hectares of land for the building of this university.

The establishment of Kerman University started with his initial financial contribution of 60 million Tomans and was opened in September 1985 with his presence.

Of course, the deceased also gave a lot of financial help to build the building of Kerman University of Medical Sciences.

Despite many efforts and even apparently the agreement and efforts of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the name of Shahid Bahonar of Kerman University was not changed to the name of its founder.

Even naming the Kerman University of Medical Sciences after him was not agreed upon, and finally, after many efforts, the Faculty of Medicine of Kerman University of Medical Sciences and a teaching and treatment hospital of that university were named after Afzalipour Engineer.
