Reza Shah abdicated.

Reza Shah Pahlavi abdicated following the occupation of Iran by Britain and the Soviet Union and handed over the throne to the crown prince, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
The text of the abdication was read in the parliament by Mohammad Ali Foroughi, the Prime Minister.
Reza Shah's abdication ended his 16-year reign and marked the beginning of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi's reign under the conditions of the occupation of Iran.
