Only two days after the bombing of the Prime Minister's office and the killing of Rajai and Bahonar, the parliament gave a vote of confidence to the interim cabinet of Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Mahdavi-Kani.

This decision was made at a time when the country was facing a serious managerial vacuum, and stabilizing the government was considered an immediate priority for the establishment.
