The appointment of Moshir al-Saltaneh as Prime Minister

After the assassination of Mirza Ali Asghar Khan Atabak, the powerful prime minister of the constitutional era, Mohammad Ali Shah appointed Mirza Ahmad Khan Moshir al-Saltaneh as Prime Minister to lead the government.

Atabak's assassination occurred while the country was still embroiled in deep disagreements among the court, constitutionalists, and political factions. The change in the head of government following this assassination was another sign of Iran's political instability in the early years of the constitutional period.
